What is the best band ever to have made music?

It's a difficult question and there really is no definitive answer.

I have my favourites and I have a list of three.

Post your favourite bands and if they match mine, you'll be rewarded.

Post your TOP TEN and the person who posts the most that match mine gets the DP.

I'm not saying that mine are the best - it's all subjective.

Let's get a music conversation started!

Amazing selection!

Doesn't mean it matches mine though - but still - some amazing bands there!

Ok here is my top 10 in no particular order.

Rolling Stones
Led Zeppelin
U2
ACDC
Queen
Aerosmith
Metallica
The Beatles
The Eagles
Eric Clapton - mostly like his solo work and his stint with Cream & Derek & The Dominoes. His other bands were merely ok.

Ahhhhhh - Dang - the Moody Blues....great band which totally slipped my mind.

Ride my Seesaw was the first track to ever truly blow my mind. I have clear recollections of sitting in front of my dad's big speaker at age 5 totally grooving to that cut on the old man's turn table.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y...

hehe - those riffs and solos still totally hold up

This is an incorrect testing. Clearly a top ten is not required.
I shall answer in a format of ten. Observe.
Tenacious D
Tenacious D
Tenacious D
Tenacious D
Tenacious D
Tenacious D
Tenacious D
Tenacious D
Tenacious D
Tenacious D.
Anyone who disagree's is wrong. Anyone who complains is wrong. This is the truth.

I'll take my DeePs now.

I've got to go with my favorites, which may or may not be a top 10. All of whom I love because they did something original.

Bowie
Placebo
Pink Floyd
Led Zeppelin
Rage Against The Machine
Queen
The Beatles
Nirvana
Muse
Nine Inch Nails

Hah. Tenacious D are really the greatest band on earth... No joke. They also made the greatest movie EVER, in the form of POD. I would have done the same thing over there, but you'd already done the sting so...

Posting in this thread to remind myself to post in this thread later.

Even though I know I won't "win".

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U...

sadder than "Sweetness and Light" by Lush
http://www.imeem.com/thezebraups...

more bouncy happy than "Ordinary Day" by "Great Big Sea"

*bump*

In a couple of days - this contest will be over!

There's 5k at stake! Post your favourite bands here!

If you've posted before - do it again - and if you aren't sure, perhaps you're dazed and confused, well, please don't ask!

And if you can't get it now....well...that's all!

This wasn't a very popular contest it seems! Well - it's still all to play for so I'll give it another few days. Post your favourite bands - your top three. The person who matches most of mine wins 5k. Simple as that!

Read my previous post - the clues are there!

HINTS ABOVE!

Pain! http://www.thepainpage.com Pain is a little known band but if you like innovative & catchy punk rock with lyrics that come from a seemingly educated source... they kick royal buttocks! Some songs to check out - Futz said Julie, Right On, Jabberjaw, Full Speed Ahead, and all their other songs are good too... One of the few bands I've ever heard where I like every track on every CD!
