unless it's a musical, in which case I have no idea if these people can sing.

I wish to be played by Eliza Dushku. Or David Bowie, if he's available. Sure.

Most 'normal' actors do have some amount of voice training, and if not, that's what overdubbing is for, so I think any actors/actresses will work. But hey, I think, the Iron Giant is a good idea, so fictional characters work too. I think Hugh Laurie could have great potential as BT. :-)

But maybe it's because I picture BT looking like Hugh Laurie's Character in the live version of 101 Dalmatians.

Now that I've thought about it some more, I think Anthony Head would be great as Esper.

I think Sean Connery could be a good Esper.

There should be a dance scene between VA and an Orderly, reminiscent of Evita when Madonna and Antonio Banderas dance.

I nominate Alan Cumming for Bloody Tuesday and Neil Patrick Harris for Thomas Hoggins. Idina Menzel's got a track record playing a flakey artist type, so she might make a good Sasha, although she's a bit older than I picture Ms. Watkins... Can we cast her circa 'Rent'? The three Billy Elliots could play shoats! Sort of a greek chorus!

Are we looking at something with a plot, or more of a 'Cats' or an 'Assassins'? That'd let us give all the classes/characters a turn in the spotlight without having to decide who are the 'stars'. That could get messy...
