I have been watching the events stream on and off throughout the week and I have been disappointed at what I have seen. Destroyers - dumping hundreds of mines on a single website only to have the Bedouins happily clear them in just a handful of seconds. I've even seen some of the higher level Destroyers do it and they should know better!

Fellow Destroyers, by deploying all your mines on a single website, you're making it extremely easy for the Bedouins of Order to clean up your mines. You're making their jobs easier, and a lot of them know this and they ridicule you for it.

As a fellow Destroyer, I know there are times where you just want to cover a site from head-to-toe with mines and watch the fireworks. I too, am guilty of this from time to time, but I know you can fight it. Once and awhile isn't that bad, especially when it comes to missions.

"But I still want to blow Shoats up! What do you suggest?!"" you say. If you really want to change your mining habits and make the Bedouins' lives harder, it might be easier than you think...

StumbleUpon: Usually every ones heard of this by now! StumbleUpon is a Firefox addon that takes you to a random URL based on what interests you sign up for. For example, if I like Trance music and cooking, I would just go to the "interests" page on Stumble and check the "Trance" and "Cooking" check boxes, so when I would hit the Stumble! button on Firefox, it would automatically take me to a random website about Trance or Cooking. It's that simple, and you can sign up for a lot of interests too! I easily have over 60! When you're using Stumble just leave a mine or two (or three :P) before you stumble to the next page, be on the look out for doggies though!

Randomwebsite: RW is very simple, you just click on the "Randomlink"button and it will take you to a random website. I don't use RW that much but becareful of NSFW material (and doggies too!) if you do use it.

Yahoo! Randomwebsite: Did you know Yahoo! had a random website generator? Me either! O_O The url is http://random.yahoo.com/bin/ryl

So come on Destroyers, I know you can do better than this. 300 minefield on Google? Yawn. One thousand mines on YouTube? Snoozeville. 200 Mines spread all across Stumble/different websites all throughout teh interwebs?! Do want!

I know every one has their own way of playing and no, you don't have to follow a word I say in this thread but just remember: This is a war between Order and Chaos. Why would you make things easy for your enemies?

Thank you for your time and happy mining!

tl;dr: Stop making things easier for the Bedouins. Stop putting all your mines on a single page - spread the mines out! :D

If destroyers were smart they would listen to hotpockets.

However, the bedouins and followers of order will be more than happy to clean up after the lazy ones, and thank them for their contribution to keeping the nethernet orderly.

Oh dear! Work ethics seem to have become slack :(

We are overrun by people who are destroyers only in name... Being a destroyer is not just blowing stuff up! It is all about friction and entropy of mixing things up of being unpredictable.

We are Chaos! Not some chicken making a nest and dropping eggs neatly next to each other!!

Lets go and make the interwebs dangerous once more

No offense hotpockets, and I hope my desire to play devil's advocate doesn't come off trollish, but I think people make mine fields for a reason.

Destroyers like to make boom. Whether the grenade or mine costs a player DP or not, it is all about the BOOM.

OK, it's not all about the boom. The game is about interacting with each other. The way to interact with other players is through tools. The playing field is the internet.

So what are you going to do? Do you want to mine something obscure like, http://www.npj.com/ ? Or, since you are interested with interacting with other people who play this game, are you going to attack wikipedia?

The Nethernet lacks a mighty quest or other gameplay aside from interacting with each other. Thus, when you join you are eager to play the game. To play the game, you have to connect on the playing field of the internet. So where will you meet the most players?

The bedouins, they are interested in playing the game also. You want to drop 6 mines on http://en.nothingisreal.com/wiki... ? Sure, dumping 500 mines on a site will draw more attention in the Events than only 6. However, if the bedouin is 'doing his/her job' as the serious folks like to say, your mines will get jumped on anyway.

Are you making a cute little easter egg hunt for your bedouin friends or do you want to see things asplode?

You won't ever stop people from dropping a ton of tools on Google because they just want to play the game. It may not be creative in your eyes, but there's no reward in the nethernet for unused tools. Maybe if we had some stats on tool use beyond deployed tools we'd have some motivation. I've always thought it would be interesting to see how many unclaimed crates I have out there at the moment.

ALSO: I made a suggestion that might encourage people to bury tools deeper into the nether. Thanks to hotpockets for the inspiration.

I know Shy sometimes uses StumbleUpon for laying mines, as he found lots of my watchdogs that I had left a couple weeks ago, also using StumbleUpon.

Which is worth pointing out. People with similar interests will StumbleUpon similar sites. So, you don't necessarily have to worry about your mines or dogs never being found. I think Shy found almost all of my old dogs, actually.

I agree with hotpockets. Don't dump 1000 mines on google all at once. It shows a horrible lack of creativity. It's also just plain lazy. I don't really care that the bedouins are clearing them. Well .. ok, I'd rather my mines burn some bare flesh, but destroying a bedouin's armor has some benefit too. However ... don't go and waste all of your mines on deep links on really obscure websites. They will rust over the ages and never go off. That's no fun either. I laid a couple of thousand mines in the week leading up to the elections. Most of them were found and tripped by bedouins fairly quickly. A lot of them weren't. I'm still getting notices every day about one of those mines being set off by an unsuspecting shoat. You CAN get mines out there that the bedouins miss but that aren't in such an obscure place that they never go off. It isn't that hard, either. It's just not as easy as going to google and ctrl-alt-m-ing until you're out of mines. I don't see the fun in that anyway.

I dunno. I believe there is room for both philosophies here.

When Mining in large amounts, I like to spread them out a bit, make people have to hunt if they are that way inclined, If they are not then months down the line someone will hit them, and I shall lol. This is all good. However, on occassion.. I just want BOOM. The easiest way to just get boom is to mine a lot in a single place, and watch the bedouins swarm.

As a child, did you ever find hosts of ants running back and forth to some sweet treat from their nest? Did you ever find yourself a new sweet treat and see if you could redirect them to places of your choice?

Sometimes, You just have to play with these people.

@sikkdays - However, if the bedouin is 'doing his/her job' as the serious folks like to say, your mines will get jumped on anyway.
The point hotpockets was making was not to lay mines that wouldn't ever be found. He stated to make the bedouin's job harder. I personally 100% agree with him. It's insanely boring to sit and refresh Google over and over to clear mines. It's not even fun at all. What I do find fun is finding a mine on accident because it was laid somewhere not so obvious. Or seeing a link that was mined and having to go search the site to find the mines.
My first interest in this game was to find things on websites as I wandered the internet. That subtle joy of knowing someone else was here before me. I KNOW we all go to Google. Where else do we all go to? Whatever happened to mining sites we thought sucked and crating the sites we loved?

I did spread some 4k mines last week on pr0n. Yeap, pr0n. And it's a lot of fun to see who actually HITS those sites. I even got a rival from that, so, i got the best of it all: mining a lot of sites, the suspense of who was hit and, not to forget, the useless rivalries.

the scary thing was, that he mined exactly those ladies i wanted to examine further, and no other

of course i got there by stalking another nethernaut after he tripped a mine, and then i thought, why not enjoy the stay

It would be rude not to.

It always dissapoints me how many of the screen shaking little buggers i find out in the wild. The words ""All", "talk", "no" and "trousers" spring to mind.

Although Im not sure what order they should be in...

I might also suggest places like popurls.com, the reddit.com "What's hot" page, delicious.com/popular and so forth.

Hit whatever pages are making the meme rounds on any given day. They'll be subpages, mostly, so events page stalkers will have to work for it, but there's still a good chance of someone hitting them in the course of general surfing.

Hitting whatever pages your rivals link from their profile can be fun and productive, too.

Try a search off of Google's trends on a given day ( http://www.google.com/trends/hot... ) and pick a likely-looking few/
