I don't want to go to minicity in my portles. I don't want to go to minicity in my missions. I don't, ever, for any reason, want to go to minicity. I have, in fact, blocked minicity in the network firewall just so that, if it's in a mission I don't wind up on minicity and don't complete the mission, and if it's in a portle the minicity moron won't get anything from my visit. If other people on the network want to go to minicity, that's just too bad. It's a worthless website in the first place and should be banned not just from pmog, but from the internet itself. It sets out to encourage spam and linkfarming. Maybe I'm overreacting, but in one day I've seen what must be 60 or more minicity links. It makes pmog no fun to play.

It's really silly to ban just one site. Why not have an auditing feature where a player can be reported and the portal/mission suspended (ie: after 10 or 20 reports, said item is temporarily removed until it can be reviewed)?
Until we can make a heuristic algorithm as good as a human brain, a script will never be as good at rooting out spammers as a human.

But banning this particular site would help with the spam problem, without the need for new features at all. It's impossible to have a minicity link that's *not* spam. So why not just go ahead and get rid of minicity?

Just deploy tons of Mines all over anything to do with MiniCity, and the profile of the person who set the Portal...

as much as i hate minicity, you can't start banning... but bombs away!

I don't like the idea of mining the cities themselves, since that victimizes the victims.

The profiles are another story.

What I don't like is that whenever I'm portaled to minicity, the "rate this portal" doesn't pop up, so I don't know who to bomb. ARGH. I don't know if it's pmog or my browser or my hosts file or what.

I have the same issue as Prios, no rating box appears. I wish I could just ban me from landing on Minicities, ugh.

Everyone who sticks their city in a quest I take, in order to farm hits on it, is gonna get a bazillion mines dropped on them, and on their city.

As much as I dislike the minicity spam, I've found that I don't see it anymore - I've upped my 'ratings' threshold in preferences, and most of their stuff tanks pretty quickly. I see fewer things pop up, but the ones that do are almost always pretty cool. I also sift through newer missions to make sure I'm not missing upcoming good stuff.

I think for most spammers, ignoring them, or making their interactions with PMOG difficult (with mines, etc.) is the right path to take.
