Having problems with PMOG on flock (18 Replies)

I installed the Firefox 3.0 a few weeks ago and my computer started crashing-eventually I had to delete firefox and install flock which has been much better. However, I can't upgrade my toolbar as it only offers a firefox addon. The main problem is that I can't loot crates at all but I can stash them-I can't complete missions either.
Most of the soluttions I've looked through here talk about firefox solutions which don't seem to apply to flock! Please, please help-there's a crate on my page I've been trying to loot for three days!

Try installing the toolbar anyway--the addon page should treat flock like FF2.

edit: I mean, if you visit the pmog addon page ( https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US... ) in flock, the install button will not be greyed out and can be clicked for delicious extended action. that sentence is long.

It won't let me download the addon-download error 28?

And I still can't loot crates or complete missions :(

Thanks anyway!

the crate/mission problem is because the toolbar isn't installed. checking into error 28...

edit: error 28 appears to be out of my price range. someone else, to the rescue!

I'm on Flock 1.2.4 with the latest toolbar and have no issues. Flock accepts all FF extensions with no problems. Keep trying!

I've been using Flock for a while. For one, I'd suggest downloading the latest Flock, Flock 2 Beta 2.

It is built on the Firefox 3 code and much more stable. Also PMOG works very, very well with it.

May I ask from where you're trying to install it?

Erm, not sure what you mean-I'm trying to install the addon from the pmog update option and it won't work at all, keeps giving error 28 (?)
Do you have a link for downloading flock 2 beta 2?
Thanks!

After some more research, I wasn't able to find this error anywhere else... SevenMacaw, if you could enlighten me on where you read about error 28, please do.

Are you behind some kind of Firewall or Anti-Virus that might keep you from downloading things through a secured website?

I wasn't able to find a reference to it, except in connection with mysql (http://www.neilturner.me.uk/2005... ) and grub (https://www.redhat.com/archives/... ), neither of which seem likely.

Errors the internet hasn't heard of? Definately someone else's problem. ;)

Ok I may have mistyped the error! I've managed to install the flock 2 beta but it still can't install the pmog update and is quoting error -228

Has anyone heard of that error?

Thanks for all the help guys, you rock!

Several people have reported this error, it seems tied into FF's cache and restricts your ability to download themes or extensions due to firewall conflicts, as Burdenday mentioned above... http://kb.mozillazine.org/Unable...

Thanks, Pixielo. I've written about this error on a few places, including the FAQ. The links Pix provided should help you resolve your Firefox issue.

'Download Error -228

This error message may be caused by having the Firefox cache disabled. To re-enable:

* Firefox 2 and above: Tools -> Options -> Advanced -> Network
* Firefox 1.5: Tools -> Options -> Privacy -> Cache

Make sure the cache is at least 1 MB (50 MB is the default setting).

Firewalls or spyware screeners may also cause this issue. If you use the CA firewall, Windows Defender, or the resident option of Spybot S&D ("Teatimer" feature), temporarily disable it to see if your system will now allow the extensions or themes to install [5].

Failing that, a workaround is to right-click the download link, select "Save Link As..." and download the .xpi or .jar file to your computer. You can then manually install it by dragging the file icon onto an open Firefox window [6].

Note: The Download Error -228 message may also be seen if the required .xpi or .jar file is not actually present on the server site. You can simply try again at a later time or check other download links on both the same site and a different site, before assuming that your own setup is at fault. [7]

Another solution is disabling Network Monitor Driver. On Windows XP go to Control Panel, Network Connections, Right click your connection, Properties, uncheck network monitor driver, hit ok.'

Thanks for the links Pix-I've gone through all the suggestions on there to solve this issue and I'm still stuck. My cache was set at 100MB so I reset it to 50MB with no success. I don't have a firewall in place that I know of. I've tried going around it as suggested by saving the link but it has an unknown error. And I've gone into the network connections setup and I don't have a network monitor driver to disable!

I hate being so useless at computers! I would put in a screen snapshot, sevenmacaw, but I honestly don't know how to!

amberphoenix: Let's try this...

e-mail me at help at pmog dot com, and I will send you a copy of the extension and instructions on how to install it locally, which would help us rule out a network issue.

If you still can't install it, I'll walk you through creating a new Firefox profile.
