Community Standards and Expectations (11 Replies)

Hello, Passive-ists, PMOG has been and always will be about giving you the opportunity to share with others how you play the web, in a fun and open manner. There are times though, especially in the recent past, where a few players have chosen to abuse the openness of PMOG through harassing individuals, and disrupting the game as a whole. During the month of June, I opened a Community Standards discussion, which asked what you as a community hold each other accountable for. A number of you responded with feedback both advising us that you enjoy the freedom PMOG gives its players, but at the same time desiring a clear set of expectations for general conduct. In counsel with this thread, along with feedback I've received personally from players on IRC, PMail, the forums, and e-mail, we at GameLayers have crafted the following policy in order to provide both newer and veteran members of our community with some general standards and expectations. The policy can be read in full at http://pmog.com/about/community. Essentially, it asks that all players be conscious that there are other people playing PMOG in addition to themselves. This includes labeling NSFW content, not harassing other players, keeping avatars "clean," and generally being aware that egregious behavior will not be rewarded. I would like to point out this policy does not deviate in any way, shape or form from our Terms of Service; it merely serves as further clarification of what the majority of players are already doing and expecting from one another. This thread is open for your questions, comments, and opinions about our new Community Standards and Expectations. If you'd rather contact us directly, please either drop me a PMail (@burdenday) or e-mail feedback at pmog dot com. Thanks again for making this wonderful community, I am glad to call my virtual home. Yours,

I for one welcome our new Community Standards :) In all seriousness, I'm all for them. It makes PMOG more fun to play when people aren't being harassed. Keeping images on the site clean, like avatars, is great too. Replied about 1 year ago | Permalink |

Can this be sent out as a message - I'm sure many players do not read the forums. Replied about 1 year ago | Permalink |

Nope - all the fun is still there, just for you, drudge! :-) Seriously, though, thanks for this, @burdenday - I hope that dealing with it and enforcing it will not prove to be a bigger burden than not having it, but the guidelines are very reasonable so I have faith it will go well. :-) Replied about 1 year ago | Permalink |

What a shame such basic stuff has to be laid out. Sigh. But thanks for getting it out there. I guess it could be seen as testament to the growing popularity of PMOG... Replied about 1 year ago | Permalink |

Well said -- and you have caused deep guilt in my heart. I gathered some extra crates the day you forgot to lock the door to the Shoppe, and have been giving many away. Sigh... Take back what you think is fair, and I'll Benefact the rest to the needy. Replied about 1 year ago | Permalink |
