Everyone has some pretty interesting usernames here... what's the story behind yours? I thought the term "tangelo" was unfair to oranges, which are far superior to tangerines as everyone knows. Therefore, I allowed the orange to take its rightful place at the head of the word. I've had this handle for 6 years now. Replied 11 months ago | Permalink |

I've been using this one for at least 6-7 years.
So, I pronounce it as 'Pix-ie-lo,' not 'Pix-ie-e-lo'...or other any other permutations of those syllables.

My real name is big and long and Greek. My whole life people misspelled my last name as ending in -lous (when it ends in -los). I pointed this out to my friends, and to mess with me they began adding it to my first name too, calling me "Vasilious" instead of "Vasilios", pronouncing the -ous like it rhymed with goose (my actual name ends with more of an "ohs" sound). So, that began my nickname of "Ous". After a little while, it got turned into "Zous" (pronounced like Zeus, being Greek and all) as a net handle. Some people pronounce it like it rhymes with mouse, but those people are wrong :D And that's why it's not Zeus. Replied 11 months ago | Permalink |

My day job is escorting a small child around and underwater city while she goes about her business, specifically, while she extracts ADAM from the dead. Mr. Bubbles is my charges pet name for me. Replied 11 months ago | Permalink |

Once upon a time I was trying to register for something and I wasn't being serious so I used the handle "joe" (average, right?), but it wasn't original enough. Neither was bob. I figured combining them and prepending "The1" to it aught to do the trick. Later, I registered for more things with the same handle because it was easier to use it again rather than get a new email and everything. After a while I was permanently stuck with it. Oh well, at least it's not as bad as my real name. :D Replied 11 months ago | Permalink |

I typoed my name once in an email to a couple of my friends when I was in college. (After all the 'u' IS right next to the 'i'...) I don't think Owen ever used my real name again after that. Replied 11 months ago | Permalink |

I've been using Sylverling since about 1997. I believe my best friend came up with it. She'd been using it for an RP chat for awhile. I don't really know. I just sort of like it. like silver and sylv-(having to do with woods) all in one with a cute diminutive in "ling." The name on my profile, Pollimaria Spacegirl, also dates back to high school. Pollimaria is a slight variation of what you get when you smush my first and middle names together. Spacegirl is because I'm both a Smashing Pumpkins and David Bowie fan, but I'm a spacegirl, not a spaceboy. So. Replied 11 months ago | Permalink |

I was nineteen and heading off to America by myself for a summer of being a camp counselor, and since our local ISP didn't provide webmail at the time, I signed up for a free American webmail account. The handle I was using with my local ISP was already taken, so I spent about three hours trying to think up a new nick. Eventually I came up with MaltaGirl, which my family thought was lame but which I liked. I've been using it ever since. Replied 11 months ago | Permalink |

I use a lot of different names online. My name in Second Life is Salina Taurog ... so salinat here. You have to pick a last name in Second Life from a list ... I have no idea now why I picked that one. But I use a lot of names that have some variant of lena or lina in them. I just like the name. My real name is Dani ... so look for me elsewhere online as Dani Magoo or something like it usually. Replied 11 months ago | Permalink |

Well, my username comes from a video game called "Breath of Fire: Dragon Quarter". If you know anything about these games (or can read what I just wrote!) dragons play a significant role. The two main dragons are "Odjn" (basically Russian for one) and "Chetyre" (Russian for four). Odjn can't be used on lots of sites since it's only four characters, so I use Chetyre on most. I've been using this username only for about 3 or 4 years. On a related note, it's pronounced similar to "chet-terrier". If you listen to the Tubenauts, lehall has a pretty good grasp of how to say it :P Replied 11 months ago | Permalink |

I took a few egyptology classes in university and wrote a paper on Sobekneferu - the first female *king*/pharaoh of Egypt. It's rarely a handle that is taken, so handy to use. Replied 11 months ago | Permalink |

@salmontickler They call them "Rares" now? Must be a new thing. They usually are referred to as "Illegals". I still have many of them. :D Replied 11 months ago | Permalink |
