Join me in the Hutch Your Cat Campaign. Let's raise awareness for a better tomorrow.

Cats should remain on a leash or in a hutch when outdoors.

We don't let dogs or cows run loose, why cats?

I don't own a litter box, so when my neighbors cats come to visit, they just use the barkdust just outside my front door. It is very unpleasant. Dog owners get a ticket if they don't clean up their dog's mess. Why are cat owners exempt?

There are so many dead cats on the side of the roads here, they outnumber all other roadkill.

I thought pet owners loved their cats? Why would they let them run loose and be injured or killed?

The problem with that is they're descended from feral hunters. Which means they get food and get rid of the waste wherever they want. Usually in my vegetable beds.

I have always found it strange that if you run over a cat there is no need to report it, but you must report hitting a dog.

In my county, animal control will not deal with cats, only dogs.

Cats have a bit more of the wild animal in them than dogs do. I tried to put my cat on a leash once. I was unsuccessful, and a bit scratched up. Cats will also typically cover up their feces. I'm not saying they always do, but typically, if they can, they will.
Most of the time, I kept my cat indoors and let her use the litter box. I now live where I can't have a cat, so I had to give her to a friend.

@salinat - I applaud your effort to be a responsible pet owner. I think the vast majority are.

Freedom to allow your cat to become road kill is the best option should you let your cat outdoors.

There isn't much difference between "owning" an outdoor cat and feeding a raccoon, besides being more likely to get rabbis from a raccoon.

I can get a rabbi from a raccoon?
How about rabies?

I love spelling errors! They make me giggle!

I've got imams from raccoons too! They're quite deep animals.

My sis has two cats that run around outside all the time but they have never left a mess anywhere that I could see it, I wonder if the neighbors' gardens are getting well fertilized.

As long as those dog owners let their dogs shit on the lawn in front of our house, or on every sidewalk they have a walk, why should i keep a cat on a leash or use its litterbox?

Around here dog owners are responsible, because Animal control is pretty tough on dog owners.

And yes Opie, there is a Hanukkah raccoon. ;)
