I will pay up to 2000 each for good missions on the following topics related to peace & war:
- Any example of modern war (post 1898)
- Any modern examples of peace negotiations
- peaceful (or warlike) societies (current, historical, or prehistorical)
- pacifism and peace movements
- peace (or war) traditions in major religions
- Margaret Mead, Homer, Von Clausewitz, Erich Maria Remarque, Sheri Tepper, Wilfred Owen, Robert Graves, Rupert Brooke, Siegfred Sassoon.

Here's how it works. Propose a mission here. If it fits the topic, I'll say so. Once you've created the mission, I'll take a look and give you the DP. The best missions will have the following characteristics:
1. They will make the pmogger think about the topic.
2. They will contain pages not found through a cursory Google or Wikipedia search on the topic.

I've been doing a lot of teaching on a related topic, and I would enjoy turning it into a mission anyway - the rise and influence of war photography.

It's an interesting idea, commissioning missions. Why did you decide to do it?

hanli: The rise of war photography would be a great mission. I'd love to see it. I'll confess that my motivation has to do with teaching... I'm experimenting in using PMOG as a teaching tool for first-year college students, and the course has a theme...
But I also noticed that a search for the words "peace" or "war" turns up practically nothing in the missions pages; pmoggers should be more socially aware!

The problem I have found is that most PMOGers don't have much interest in taking historical missions.

What about art relating to the atrocities of war? I'm thinking of either an in-depth examination of one piece, or a comparison of two or three pieces, about a single war or battle.

Wow, that's more like it. Those are some great missions. If other PMOGers aren't interested, it's their loss. I really like a bunch of them (I've tagged six), but I can't afford to pay you 12K right now (not if I'm to make other awards!), so I'm leaving 2K (in staggered crates) and will be thinking about more as I earn them. How about a mission on conscientious objectors in WWII?

Typhon - Don't worry about the DP <g> Pass it around to people on my acquittance list if you really feel you need to... I posted the missions mostly to pimp them and see if I can get more people to take them.

I've tried to make as many 'educational' type missions but even if I make them 15-20 lightpost missions they just don't have the draw of the badge missions. Almost all of the 'educational' missions have ended up earning negative DP but, since I can make 2000DP a day without trying it doesn't matter.

I'm with Typhoon in thinking that PMOG could be a very fun/interesting educational tool. It'd be easy for the teacher to make sure the students at least took the missions. <g>

A mission about COs in WWII might be a bit difficult but, if you did COs through the 20th century that would be a very do-able mission (I am no longer of draft age but, when I was, I was registered as a CO.)

@thekatiest Something on Guernica or the Spanish civil war would be excellent. People are curious, I think, after the popularity of the movie "Pan's Labyrinth."

@mortmer some of your comments could be construed to indicate that you engage in activities for which players are suspended. while it is not illegal to post about such in the forums, it surely draws attention from the higher ups. I suggest that future remarks indicate a rate of dp growth consistent with that of legal play.

Sevenmacaw - I'm not entirely sure how you get that from what I said without knowing anything about me or, what I do. As it so happens, I do software support all day and as such I have quite a few sites I need to read on a daily basis plus, I do quite a bit of searching everyday to resolve problems at work. Toss in sitting in front of a computer for 9 hours a day and that adds up to a lot of free time to explore the web and go to a ton of sites on a daily basis. Throw on searching for new sites to stick lightposts on to build missions and 2k DP a day isn't really out of order if I want to make that effort.

Also, please note I said that I can make that amount, not that I do make that amount every day. At this level, I don't really need the DP for anything other than tools or to give away and I'm not really concerned about leveling so it isn't an issue for me.

I know nothing about ww2, So I can't really contribute, But I'd like to at least assist monetary wise. Let me know.

I'll write one on war poets (Wilfred Owen and maybe Guillaume Apollinaire...) - I wrote a paper on that once and I hadn't even thought of making it into a mission! I'll let you know how it goes.

It turns out I was wrong about writing one for conscientious objectors in World War II and am in the process of creating one now, probably done within an hour or so.

@mortmer - Busy working through your missions now. (can't believe I missed them) I'm not actually on the internet much, so I consider 200 a day a good haul :D Been registered for 6 months and only just lvl 10!
@typhon - I'll let you know when the war photography mission is done. But please keep me posted on how your students react to using pmog, I've been wondering if it could be used in more formal learning myself, and would be interested in your process.
