did you ever saw a click'n'help-site?
the concept of those sites is very easy: if you click on a link you see some sponsors which pay fo clicking on this link
and the owner of this site spends this money on charity stuff or stops the global warming or saves the rainforest
this mission leads you through some of them

Wikipedia, a part of the Wikimedia Foundation, can be a very important tool for looking up random pieces of information, on things from the American Revolution, the theory of evolution, theory of gravity, etc. Or, when you are bored out of your mind...just random pieces of unrelated information. From long words to made-up ones, Wikipedia has it all.
If you haven't taken the first mission, I suggest you do: http://www.thenethernet.com/missions/a_collection_of_unusual_articles_on_wikipedia_part_1

Greetings Nethernet! Verdant Casque again with another exciting, informative, and shamelessly self-promoting mission for you all!
It has recently come to my attention that there is a misunderstanding among the community regarding my purpose. Admittedly, we have never fully outlined our purpose beyond promoting vigilantism and so, to better provide both those of chaos and order a better understanding of what we are, I have prepared a "manifesto" (of sorts) from the words of the members of the Casque itself.
As you walk through however, I caution you, Nethernetters, this is no ordinary statement of purpose...but I'll let you find out and decide that for yourself.
Stay frosty out there people:
The Verdant Casque

Magically Yours,

Ehlers-Danlos syndrome (EDS) is a group of inherited disorders that affect your connective tissues primarily your skin, joints and blood vessel walls. With EDS, genetic mutations disrupt the production of collagen, a chief component of connective tissue.
Ehlers-Danlos syndrome is uncommon and occurs in six major types. All types affect your joints, and most also affect your skin. Some of the more prominent symptoms of Ehlers-Danlos syndrome include flexible joints that extend beyond the normal range of movement, and skin that's especially stretchy or fragile.

Vanilla extract is a wondrous substance. It is aromatic, dark, mysterious and delicious. O.K., maybe it isn't really all that mysterious. What is a mystery is why people go to the market and spend obscene amounts of money on the pure extract when they could be making their own high quality product right in their own homes.

W-w-welcome to the Future beloved (mission-)viewers! Let me share with the fellow nethernetters of the global net a little cult-TV history.
Ages ago a short-lived little show made a cultural impact on the world in one way or another, but many of the younger folks today doesn't know of this quirky and fun character and his little show, so come on in and take a trip to the 80's and learn more about mr. M-M-Max, and don't f-f-forget to enjoy yourselves while traveling through web-pages and time. Who knows, you might even find it so fun that you'll start quoting him, with a fake stutter. Original Mission Launch: 03/06/2009. 4th Update: 01/26/2010. "And then there's politicians. It's easy to tell when a politician is lying: their lips move. " - Max |

Jack Chick is a prolific writer of evangelist tracts. They are much parodied, but meant very much in earnest. You may have been handed one of these in a street corner, or been pointed to one online. Follow along to learn more and see some responses to two well-known examples, Lisa and Dark Dungeons, along with a few of the better parodies.

In Science Fiction, there are any number of Doomsday weapons capable of causing massive damage to a city or the surface of a planet. Here are a few ways to go that extra step further; the complete (or near) destruction of an entire planet.

A World Heritage Site is a place of either cultural or physical significance. Places the high-ranked peoples consider to be protected with any means possible. It can be a forest, a building, a monument, or anything else of importance. Going through all 890 of them would mean a lot of dps for you, but i shall stick to the heritage sites in the USA, as there are some of the most beautiful places on earth over there.
(they also make great destinations for your holidays!)
I shall go through these sites in chronological order, the years they were registered as a World heritage Site.

Followed properly, this mission should take you a while. Each lightpost is a science fiction short story I've read and enjoyed. Take the time to read all the way (or bookmark for later). Pick up a little culture the sci-fi way. |

Do you feel like you suffer from lethologica? Do you love being able to find that 'mot juste'? Find words you never knew, words that ought to exist (but don't), then play with your new-found vocabulary.

Don't you want to play with your food? Or just be playful with your food? Come along and see some yummy sushi and some fun imitators.

Zombies and other brain eaters are scary for a reason. Nobody likes the idea of having their brain devoured or their free will yanked out from under them. this mission explores some of the creatures in the world that seek to do just that.

Curious as to what the LGBT webcomic community has to offer? While this list is hardly exhaustive (and is admittedly heavy on the LBT side of things), it is designed to provide those who wish to explore it with a brief introduction to a few entertaining, informative, high quality sites that capture and share a portion of the LGBT experience in colorful images and well-written scripts.
My hope is that this webcomic tour proves useful and intriguing to all that might be interested. Don't be shy!

A mission based on a family tradition: each night at dinner, my sister and I would be asked what we had learned today. This mission is today's answer. I'm still a chaot, though, so the most coherence I promise is a general nature theme. For fun, there's plenty of dp along the way, but some things have been tucked 1 click from the page you land on. Advanced warning: 2 YouTube stops along the way.
(Updated! Fixed a broken link and re-stashed)

Have you ever found yourself staring in awe and/or disgust at the list of chemicals on the back of your shampoo bottle? Ever wonder what sort of funky gunk you're rubbing into your skin every time you moisturize? Or perhaps you're just plain tired of the usual bath and body products offered at the local drug store. This mission will take you on a quick jaunt through several unique sites that tout handmade, quirky, natural bath products.

Scent is often called the forgotten sense, and while it is true that mankind's sense of smell is good deal weaker than many of our animal counterparts, it should not be underestimated. Scent is unique among the senses, in that it is the only sense that follows a direct pathway to the limbic system (i.e. the emotional center of the brain) via a miniature highway of olfactory nerves. Due to this direct connection, scent possesses a powerful hold over both emotion and memory. Even the faintest whiff can elicit joy, fury, or desire. In turn, just a breath of fragrance can evoke memories long thought forgotten.
This mission will bring you on a brief jaunt through several unusual and unique perfumery sites. Perhaps you'll find something stimulating along the way.

The World of Webcomics is, by far, more interesting than World of Warcraft to people like me. If you enjoy webcomics, join in on this mission to find some of the comics scattered around the internet, seen through the eyes of the nethernet.

Want to live the lifestyle and attract odd(er) looks from your friends, neighbours, and co-workers, but don't know how to track down just the corset or ray gun that displays the true you?
Take a tour, and hopefully find a few helpful sites you haven't run across before.
Added a stop I'd forgotten, and inserted some HTML to deal with a site that resisted being Lightposted. Fie, for shame!
Now repaired to compensate for the ravages of the Internet, the mission is once again functional!
...aaaand after our prolonged absence from the Intertubes, the mission is once again current and ready for browsing!

One very unique thing about Firefox is its large library of add-ons and themes. This mission focuses on the extensions that I find the most useful, so no themes (sorry). I know there have been missions about this, but not recently.

Freeganism is an anti-consumerist movement. It takes issue with society's focus on buying new and throwing away old (but still useful) items. In the simplest terms, freeganism is a reaction against the waste of resources. Participants, known as "freegans," have two main goals: to buy as little as possible and to use only what they need. Also a quick look at recycling.

This part of the series represents July through December. Reminding us to take care and prevent illness and other events that we sometimes forget about. This mission provides links to the sites for each public awareness holiday. If you follow the portal off the diabetes page you will get a cute surprise for the National Made in America Month celebration.
