Mission Description

The Very Reverend John Flynn, O.B.E., D.D., 'Flynn of the Inland',was ordained into the Presbyterian Church on 24th of January, 1911, and arrived at Beltana, in northern South Australia, to take up missionary work in early February. Flynn became interested in the possibility of establishing an aerial medical service in outback areas. He worked tirelessly at organizing people and resources until in 1928, the first medical flight of what was to become the Royal Flying Doctor Service, was made from Cloncurry in Queensland.
